Alexander Hellmers, CEO of Alexander Global Logistics (AGL) and a member of the Pulp and Paper Alliance (PPA), recently inaugurated his company's new state-of-the-art logistics hub in Bremerhaven on 20 August 2026. A €20 million investment, the logistics hub marks one of the largest investments in AGL’s 20-year-long history. Interestingly, the inauguration also arrives at an opportune moment, marking the company's 20th anniversary this year.
The new facility adds 20,000 m² of modern warehouse space and a 13,000 m² heavy-duty container and reach stacker yard to its existing operations in Bremerhaven. This reach stacker yard allows AGL to seamlessly integrate container handling directly into their warehousing concept. Now, AGL can shuttle containers from the port within the applicable free-time window, temporarily store them at their facility, and position them for unloading according to specific operational requirements.

For the customers, this provides additional flexibility in managing container flows and can help reduce exposure to detention, demurrage, and terminal storage costs. Instead of treating port transport, container handling, and warehousing as separate processes, the new facility allows AGL to manage them as one integrated logistics chain.
The facility is fully integrated with AGL WEB, giving customers digital visibility into inventory and warehouse movements and connecting the physical flow of goods with our digital logistics processes.

The warehouse also incorporates modern fire protection and sprinkler systems, high-performance loading infrastructure, and automated cleaning equipment to maintain the high standards required for pulp and paper storage. Sustainability is also a key facet of the facility, which includes energy-efficient building technology and renewable energy solutions.
Reflecting on this new chapter for the company, Founder and Managing Director of AGL and also a member of PPA, Carsten Hellmers adds, "With this new facility, we are investing in the long-term future of our customers, our company and Bremerhaven as a logistics location. We wanted to create a facility that combines quality, capacity, digital transparency and operational flexibility – particularly for the international pulp and paper industry."
